This great little project was extremely rewarding to make, and a great way to use up little bits of yarn from other project.
Just be sure that you never put anything on it that could become a choking hazard. Don’t use any eyes, or noses, even the safety one’s can be come choking hazards. They are just fine without any face at all.
These little guys were designed for Preemies. The babies grasp the curly tentacles of the octopus instead pulling on their tubes. They believe that the tentacles mimic the umbilical cord and is comforting to the babies.
Although these were designed for Preemies, all babies can benefit from these octopuses. They promote motor development and sensory stimulation, which all babies will benefit from.

Tentacles
In the next st chain 40, turn
Sc x 2, into the 2nd ch from the hook x 38, (this should make the tentacle curl)
Sc into the next st, to secure
Repeat, until you have 8 tentacles
Stuff and close.
